Invitations to tender
You are here: Ofwat > About Ofwat > Procurement > Our procurement processes > The tender process > Invitations to tender
Whenever we invite a company to tender, we:
- specify our needs in terms of outputs whenever appropriate, to encourage innovation
- invite tenders from enough suppliers to ensure there is genuine competition; whilst still giving suppliers a reasonable chance of winning
- make sure tendering procedures and documentation are as clear and concise as possible, and only ask for information necessary to evaluate bids
- provide the evaluation criteria on which the decision to award the contract will be based
- provide all tenderers with the same information and opportunity
We have introduced electronic tendering to our procurement processes. Pre-Qualification Questionnaires and Invitations To Tender are issued electronically and suppliers are asked to submit their responses (completed pre-qualification questionnaires or tender documents) electronically instead of on paper.
When we invite suppliers to tender for work we provides full instructions on how each tender should be submitted. If these instructions are not followed carefully, the tender may be rejected.
