Leakage

  • We make sure that companies are providing water to their customers in an efficient and effective way. To help us we collect information on total leakage each year. We check that leakage is at the level where costs are minimised – the economic level of leakage. It is the point from which reducing leakage actually costs more than developing new water resources.
  • The companies are responsible for dealing with leakage where it arises. Customers can help them by reporting leaks when they see them. All complaints about leakage should be made to the company in the first instance. If the response is unsatisfactory then the customer should contact the local CCWater office who will investigate and may ask us for advice.
