The Water Services Regulation Authority (Ofwat) ensures that the water companies in England and Wales provide an efficient service at a fair price, without neglecting water quality or environmental responsibilities.

Are you interested in dealing with one of the UK's most important regulated industries? Could you explain the complex issues of economic regulation to leading financial and consumer journalists? Could you also help to produce the Ofwat in-house magazine?

If you thrive on these sorts of challenges, then we want to hear from you because there is a vacancy at Ofwat's HQ in Birmingham for an experienced Press & Publicity Officer.

In an industry never far from the headlines, you will deal with all levels of the media – from regional press to national TV and radio. You will also advise Ofwat staff on medial issues.

The successful applicant will:

• Have excellent writing and communication skills
• Have a sharp news sense
• Have experience of working as part of a small team
• Be able to demonstrate press office / journalistic experience
• Ideally have some internal communications and DTP experience
