RD 03/08

To Regulatory Directors of all
water and sewerage companies
and water only companies

4 March 2008

Dear Regulatory Director

Management Changes in Network Regulation

Our Board has agreed to recruit a permanent replacement for Melinda Acutt as Director of Network Regulation. We will be advertising the role shortly, but it could take three to six months to make the appointment. Unfortunately Jonathan Hodgkin, who is currently Interim Director of Network Regulation, has decided not to stay on and will be leaving Ofwat early in the week beginning 10 March. We are therefore making the following interim arrangements with effect from 10 March:
  • George Day (currently Head of Asset Strategy) and Paul Hope (Head of Water Resource Economics) will jointly lead Network Regulation Division as Interim Directors, Network Regulation. They will continue to lead their own teams also.
  • George and Paul will have specific responsibilities. In particular George will be responsible for Asset Strategy, Comparative Efficiency and Reporters, and these teams will report to him. Paul will be responsible for Water Resource Economics and Quality Enhancement and these teams will report to him.
  • George and Paul will together work closely with Fiona Pethick on the management of PR09.

In addition Rowena Tye (Head of Quality Enhancement) is retiring later this month and Kevin Ridout has been appointed Interim Head of Quality Enhancement.

I'm sure you will want to join me in thanking Rowena and Jonathan for all their hard work and welcoming George, Paul and Kevin to their new roles.

Yours sincerely

REGINA FINN
Chief Executive
