RD 39/03
TO THE REGULATORY DIRECTORS OF ALL
WATER AND SEWERAGE COMPANIES AND
WATER COMPANIES 16 December 2003
Dear Regulatory Director
2004-05 PRINCIPAL STATEMENT: RPI AND THE TARIFF DIFFERENTIAL
I said in RD 38/03 that I would write to confirm the November 2003 RPI figure, which you will need in order to complete your 2004-05 principal statement. The all items retail price index (RPI) for November 2003 was 182.7.
Please enter this value in cell K27 of the 2004-05 principal statement information capture system to one decimal place. This cell is directly below the value for the November 2002 all items RPI which was 178.2. The spreadsheet will automatically calculate the annual increase as 2.53%.
I can also confirm that the maximum level of the 2004-05 measured/unmeasured tariff differential is £34. Applying a split of two-thirds for water to one-third for sewerage with appropriate rounding gives separate service limits of £23 for water and £11 for sewerage.
The maximum level of the infrastructure charge is now £251.48.
Any queries on the content of this letter should be addressed to me on 0121 625 1389.
I am copying this letter to Rodney Anderson (Defra), June Milligan (Welsh Assembly Government) and Robert Weeden (Water UK).
Yours sincerely
Paul Hope
Head of Tariffs
