NOTIFIED ITEM FOR METER OPTANTS

In MD157 the Director committed Ofwat to the publication of a protocol including a detailed method for calculating the materiality of the effects associated with excess meter optants.

A draft protocol is attached. It is intended to provide transparency and certainty on the materiality case that companies would need to make if applying for an Interim Determination of K against this Notified Item.

We will be receptive to any points companies wish to make on the draft protocol by 31 March 2000. A final version will be issued as soon as possible after this date.
