If necessary, residents can recover any amounts they have been overcharged through the civil courts. Whereas previously they were only able to recover the overcharge, the strengthened Order will now also allow them to recover interest on the overcharge at a rate of twice the average base interest rate of the Bank of England. This will apply for the period during which they have been overcharged.
