Gaining access to water supply as a licensee

To gain access to water supply as a water supply licensee, you must enter into an access agreement with an appointed water company and meet the standards and requirements set in its access code. Water companies publish their access codes and access prices.

If you cannot agree the terms and conditions of a proposed access agreement with the appointed water company, you can refer the dispute to us and ask us to make a determination. For more information about this, please see our water supply licensing determinations procedure.

Unauthorised use

If you don't have an appointment or a licence then you cannot use the water supply system to supply water to a customer's premises. Unauthorised use is a criminal offence.

Similarly, if you don't have an appointment or a licence then you cannot introduce water into the supply system. Unauthorised introduction of water into the supply system is a criminal offence.
