On 1 December 2005, it became possible for non-household customers who are likely to use at least 50 million litres (megalitres – Ml) of water a year to choose their water supplier from a range of new companies. These new companies are known as water supply licensees (or ‘licensees’). They are able to compete with the existing appointed water service providers once they have a licence from us.
The document and its supporting information set out the process for transferring customers between suppliers.You should also read the letter ‘WSL 01/10: Proposed changes to the customer transfer protocol (CTP)’ which summarises the changes.
