Your water bill
Household customers
If you are a household customer you will be charged according to either:
- the rateable value of your property (unmetered charges); or
- the amount of water you use (metered charges).
Some customers pay according to the amount of water they would use if they had a meter (assessed charges). Unmetered customers may be able to reduce their bill by opting for a free water meter.

The future of charging
In August 2008 the Government announced that Anna Walker would lead an independent review of charging and metering for water and sewerage services. The final report was published on 8 December 2009.
You can find more information about the Walker review from the Department for Food, the Environment and Rural Affairs.
