Changes in household bills

Water billsWater and sewerage charges change every year. So, your bill will change from one year to the next.

In April 2009, the average household water and sewerage bill across England and Wales went up by approximately 4.1% or £13 to reach £342. Your own bill may have increased by more or less than this amount

The level of your bill and how much it changes from year to year depends on which company supplies your water and sewerage services. Each company faces different challenges in delivering services to consumers. This means that costs and charges will vary from company to company but we check that charges are fair and are within the price limits we set.

Changes in your bill will also depend on whether you have a meter and pay for the amount of water you use, or pay in another way (you are ‘unmetered’).

You can find more information on your company’s charges for this year in our national bills leaflet.

Your water company will also have further information.
