Ofwat Self Lay Group
The Ofwat Self Lay Group ("the group") has been set up to provide a forum for facilitating competition in laying water mains and service pipes on new development sites; known as self-lay.
The members of the group represent self-lay organisations ("SLOs"), developers, water companies, manufacturers and regulators. Membership of the group will be reviewed on a regular basis, in line with the terms of reference.
The group meets quarterly and its discussions and action points are recorded in minutes.
Please be aware that not all supporting papers mentioned in the minutes will be published.
The main short term objectives of the group are as follows:
- To monitor the development of a national scheme for approving SLOs who want to install their own water mains and service pipes;
- To consider mechanisms for making the water companies' charges for works transparent and to ensure that a level playing field is maintained when these charges are applied
- To consider the future development of the self-lay market
- To raise awareness of the self-lay option amongst industry stakeholders
