Having problems paying your water bill when you are on benefit?

If you are in arrears and in receipt of Income Support, income-based Job Seeker's Allowance or Pension Credit, it may be possible to arrange for payments to be made directly from your benefit by JobCentre Plus through the third party deduction scheme, Water Direct. Whilst the scheme does not reduce your bill, it offers an alternative payment method which can help those who have difficulty in budgeting.

An amount will be taken directly from your benefits to cover your current year's charges and also to pay an amount towards your arrears. Rules are in place to make sure that payments taken do not exceed a specified proportion of your benefit income.

You should contact your water company or yourJobCentre Plus office if you wish to use this method.
