Long-term planning

  • All water companies have a duty to produce water resources plans covering the next 25 years. These cover how companies intend to provide sufficient water to meet their customers' needs.
  • At price reviews we check that companies' investment proposals are consistent with their water resource plans.
  • The Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs issued statements of two meetings they held on 1 June 2006 and 4 December 2006 with representatives from across the water industry, including water companies, Water UK, Ofwat, the Environment Agency and the Consumer Council for Water.
