WSL 02/08 29 July 2008 Dear Colleague Guidance on compliance codes In March 2008 (WSL 01/08), we consulted on our draft guidance on compliance codes. In accordance with condition R of their licences, each water company must have a compliance code that follows our compliance guidance. We asked for views on our proposed guidance and identified specific questions in each chapter of the paper. In particular, we wanted views on specific issues for water companies and how we might address these. After reviewing consultation responses and discussing the draft guidance at our Operations Advisory Group, we have published a full version of our new guidance on compliance codes on our website today, together with a consultation responses document. Our new guidance outlines water companies' duties under condition R in relation to their compliance codes. It also provides guidance on the particular issues that water companies should cover in their compliance codes. Water companies should have compliance codes in place by 3 November 2008.
