Dear Regulatory Director

NOTIFICATION OF SIGNIFICANT EVENTS AFFECTING CUSTOMERS

I am writing to request that you inform me or a member of my team at an early stage when an incident occurs which affects water supplies to a significant number of customers. An incident might for example result from a major burst, issue of a boil water notice or pollution or other incident. You are best placed to judge what is significant, but this will clearly be affected by the level of public interest in water issues at the time.

I would be glad if you would also inform me when the imposition of restrictions on the use of hosepipes or sprinklers is under consideration.

If a major event occurs out of office hours, you should contact the Duty Press Officer whose number can be obtained from the main Ofwat switchboard.
