Reports on water companies
International comparisons - environmental performance The Environment Agency provides us with figures each year on the compliance of companies in England and Wales with environmental standards for effluent discharges and on the number of pollution incidents. Last year, we published these figures in our 'Levels of service for the water industry in England and Wales 2006-07' report. Scottish Water's annual return to the Scottish Environment Protection Agency (SEPA) contains similar information. We can compare sewage treatment levels between England and Wales, Scotland and Australia because of the similarity of data available and with Canada because of the data provided by our partner. We also can compare the performance of European countries in meeting the EU Bathing Water Directive.  |
