Reselling water
Rules came into force on 1 April 2001 to protect people who buy their water or sewerage services from another person or company instead of directly from a water or sewerage company. This is known as water resale.
The rules about water resale charges apply to you if you charge domestic tenants or others for water or sewerage services a regulated water or sewerage company supplies to you. This usually includes landlords or owners of a mobile home park, flats, apartments or other leasehold or rented property.
If you sell water in this way, you are called a 'reseller'. The people who buy water from you are called 'purchasers'.
