PR09 Phase 1

Preparation

The first phase of the 2009 price review will establish the framework for the review.

We will begin in October 2007 with an open consultation on our approach to the review. In November 2007 we will consult on the information we would need to collect from companies.

Our decisions on our approach, based on the consultation, will be published in March 2008. The consultation on the information requirements for the draft business plan will inform the final information requirements, which we will publish in April 2008.

June to December 2007Companies develop and publish strategic direction statements following consultation with stakeholders.
September 2007Welsh Assembly Government to publish Water Policy Statement.
October 2007Consultation on Ofwat's approach to the 2009 price review.
November 2007Consultation on our information requirements for the price review.
December 2007Companies submit Strategic Direction Statements 14 December 2007.
Late 2007 to March 2008CCWater-led/ joint stakeholder research.
December 2007Defra and Welsh Assembly Government Statements of Obligations
Early 2008Defra to publish new Water Strategy, which will outline the Government's priorities for water.
January 2008Consultation on approach to PR09 ends.
March 2008Framework and approach - methodology on 2009 price review.
Defra to publish social and environmental guidance. Possible Welsh Assembly Government social and environmental guidance.
April 2008

Publish information requirements.
