The water industry has set out plans to reduce emissions by 2030, and this is an important step toward the government target of embedded and operational net zero by 2050. Through the innovation fund and green recovery fund, we’re securing investment for innovative schemes linked to net zero and climate change.
As part of our work on this at Ofwat, we’re building carbon considerations into our long-term planning and investment decisions. Climate change adaptation is also a key focus of our work: in 2021, we approved investment into collaborating with local partners to reduce the risk of flooding, protecting habitats, and cutting pollution as part of the green recovery program.
