Economics Degree Apprenticeship

With the opportunity to support work in a range of areas, you’ll develop a broad skillset, important to many roles in the world of economic regulation. You’ll be part of a multi-disciplinary team and apply the principles of economics (from your learning whilst on your apprenticeship) in the real world.  The work we do is complex and has direct implications for customers and the environment. You’ll be given the opportunity to demonstrate your potential from the outset and your passion for economics will see you relish the opportunity!

Your Studies:

You will complete your studies with the University of Kent – selected to deliver the programme because of the strength of their economics courses and the support they offer to apprentices throughout your time on programme.

You will study with Kent University through a hybrid approach, you will have lecturers online supplemented with in person blocks with your fellow cohort at the university. Ofwat will arrange and fund your accommodation and travel to the university for these visits. Your studies will be brought to life and used in practice with on the job learning at Ofwat.

On successful completion, apprentices will gain the following qualifications:

  • L6 Economics Degree Apprenticeship
  • BSc (Hons) Economics

In addition, you’ll have 5-years’ experience working in water regulation, as part of the Civil Service – putting you in a brilliant position to progress in your career.

Project Management Degree Apprenticeship

Over the three years you will get to know Ofwat well and have the opportunity to support work in two of our teams – Major Projects and RAPID (The Regulators’ Alliance for Progressing Infrastructure Development).  You’ll be able to apply the theory you learn at university and put it into practice in your day-to-day role.

You will be given the opportunity to support and lead on interesting internal and external projects over your apprenticeship, gaining more responsibility for projects over the course of your program. You will be working on projects that will make a difference to the water sector.

Your Studies:

We have partnered with Exeter university for this program, the apprenticeship will be delivered in a blended approach, both online and on campus.

On successful completion, apprentices will gain the following Qualifications:

  • L6 Project Manager Degree Apprenticeship
  • BSc (Hons) Project Management
  • International Project Management Association (IPMA) Level D qualification
  • CMI Level 5 Certificate in Project Management
