IB 18/13: Temporary changes to CEO's role

Over the last few weeks Ofwat has achieved a number of milestones with the appointment of a new Chief Executive, Cathryn Ross, and the publication of the methodology for the 2014 price review.

The Board has determined, with Regina Finn, that this is the appropriate moment for her to hand over a number of her executive duties in Ofwat. From September 1, Regina will relinquish the position of CEO. She will retain responsibility for a full introductory programme for Cathryn Ross, for continuing decision making and advice on casework matters and for other meetings as requested or necessary until her departure on 9 November.

Until the arrival of Cathryn Ross, Jonson Cox, Chairman will chair regular Executive Team meetings and Sonia Brown, Keith Mason and Stuart Crawford will report to the Board. Keith Mason will also take on responsibility for approval of New Appointment and Variations and for the day to day management of the casework team. Any other changes will be communicated as they are decided.

Keith Mason will be proposed to HM Treasury to take responsibility as accounting officer from the end of August until Cathryn Ross’s arrival.

Jonson Cox said:

“Changes of leadership at the top of any organisation can cause additional pressure and workload. The smooth management of this change and the process through to the arrival of our new CEO continues to rely on the constructive engagement of all parties. I would like to thank all involved, our staff and all our stakeholders for their ongoing support at this time.”
