I joined Ofwat at the beginning of 2014 and although I had been working in water regulation for many years, my role Ofwat was my first real leadership position.
Having been charged with turning around the casework functions and taking customer policy in a new direction, I was a little daunted by the scope and scale of the task. What I didn’t realise at the time was how amazing the staff at Ofwat are and the depth and breadth of their knowledge and talents. .
The teams that I led at Ofwat delivered some amazing work which I know is still being used today. My overriding memories from my time at Ofwat are all linked to teamwork and how supportive the staff are of each other and how they have a real pride in what they do and, most importantly in a public sector body, why they are doing it.
It was a real privilege to work with them and to see how much can be achieved in a truly supportive environment.
