Ofwat welcomes launch of draft river basin management plans

Ofwat welcomes today’s publication by the Environment Agency of draft River Basin Management Plans for consultation.

The consultation runs for six months. Responses will inform Government decisions on the measures necessary to protect and improve water quality in rivers, lakes, estuaries and coastal waters, as required by the European Water Framework Directive.

Throughout January, February and March, workshops in each river basin district will allow those interested to discuss the draft plans and provide opportunities to respond.

Office surgeries are planned in some river basin districts offering the chance for the public to raise questions with the Environment Agency’s technical experts.

The draft River Basin Management Plans along with supporting documentation and details of how you can respond are available at http://www.environment-agency.gov.uk/research/planning/33250.aspx
