Robust data is needed on an annual basis to explore consumers' views on their direct contact with their water company. The Ofwat Service Incentive Mechanism (SIM) introduced in 2010 is a way of encouraging water companies to improve their customer service. The overall objective of the research is to provide a robust comparable measure of consumers' experience and how satisfied they are with the overall handling of an actual recent contact with their water or sewerage supplier.
