Alongside their annual return, water and sewerage companies provide information to us on the levels of activity within the market. We have used this information to produce the market monitoring report, which covers developments in the market from 2017, when we started to collect this information. Whilst there are number of positive findings, we are concerned that the trading of sludge for treatment is very low and falling and that companies report a number of barriers to competition.
