Enforcement case into South East Water's supply resilience

Case summary

We have opened an enforcement case into South East Water to investigate whether it has failed to develop and maintain an efficient water supply system. This comes after we called in the Board of South East Water before Ofwat’s Chair and Chief Executive to explain its performance over the last 18 months.

South East Water is the current worst performer for water supply interruptions in England and Wales, according to our latest Water Company Performance Report. In 2022-23 there was an average 3 hours, 2 minutes and 21 seconds lost per property compared with its performance commitment level of 5 minutes and 45 seconds.
