PR19 City Briefing – 12 July 2017

Update on return in regulated equity (RoRE)

We have become aware of inconsistencies in the approaches used by companies in calculating their RORE numbers for 2015-16. The inconsistencies related to the inflation assumptions that had been used in calculating financial outperformance and we have provided further guidance to ensure consistency of approach.

We are revisiting the RORE figures that all companies have provided for 2015-16 and we will, as the information becomes available, reflect these in an updated version of our own Financial Monitoring Report.

We have also written to all companies to clarify the basis on which we expect them to calculate RORE for 2016/17 and have asked them to provide copies of their calculations so that we can check that they have followed the guidance provided.
