On 24 March 2015, Ofwat began a consultation on a proposal to vary SSE Water’s appointment to become the water and sewerage services provider for a development in Northumbrian Water’s water supply area and Thames Water’s sewerage services area called Barking Riverside Phase 2+ in Barking, Essex (“the site”). When fully built, the site will consist of 661 household properties. The consultation ended on 20 April 2015. During the consultation period, we received representations from two organisations, which we considered in making our decision. On 15 June 2015, we granted SSE Water a variation to its existing appointment to enable it to supply water and sewerage services to the site. This notice gives our reasons for making this variation.
