We are currently working on a new strategy which we expect to publish in Autumn 2019. Whilst the new strategy is under development the interim business plan pages provide information about Ofwat’s plans in 2019-20, how we regulate, and what it’s like to work here.
In March 2019, we published our Forward Programme for 2019-20, which sets out:
- our strategic outcomes for 2019-20;
- the key milestones we want to achieve in 2019-20;
- how our work aligns with the UK and Welsh Government’s Strategic Policy Statements;
- our budget for 2019-20; and
- our programme structure and key contact information.
In December 2019, the 2019 price review (PR19) will conclude. We currently carry out a review of price limits every five years to set the price, investment and service package that customers receive. This includes controlling prices companies can charge their customers. More information on PR19 can be found by clicking on the below button.
In April 2017, the largest competitive water retail market in the world opened for business, bringing the biggest change to the water sector since privatisation. This new market means 1.2 million businesses, charities and public sector organisations in England are no longer restricted to buying water services from their regional monopoly. Instead, they can shop around, renegotiate, and find the right deal for them. If customers don’t like the service they get, they can take their business elsewhere.
