We will be operating three graduate schemes in the specialist areas of Economics, Data and Policy.
Our dynamic and truly versatile 2 year programme will enable you to use the tools and knowledge developed in your degree to help us solve problems in the water industry.
Rotating across different areas of work (clusters), you will be able to develop a broad skillset, important to many roles in the world of regulation and across society. Our Graduate Programme gives you opportunities to enhance your presentation, analytical, stakeholder management and project management skills, by providing excellent structured on-the-job training and relevant learning that will give you a deeper understanding of the regulatory environment and the water sector, as well as the economics, data or policy and strategy skills you will need to succeed. You will thrive on the challenges and variety that these programmes provide.
Each action packed placement is designed to develop the skills, knowledge and core competencies that you’ll need to form a solid foundation to your career in regulation and beyond.
To give you a flavour of what to expect, our previous graduates worked on a range of projects, such as the design of a new wholesale market and price controls, delivering our strategy, financial monitoring of companies, corporate governance and stakeholder engagement.
Our video below offers an insight into the experiences of some of our recent graduates.
This is a really exciting time for you to join us, as we continue our journey to deliver new and innovative ways of working in order to achieve our ambitious strategy Time to act, together. We’ll be raising our gaze and looking outward much more in order to be an exemplar to the water and wider regulatory sector. So there’ll be more collaboration, helping us to achieve our aim of delivering the best outcomes for customers.
As the future talent of Ofwat, we’re looking for the best of the best, so it goes without saying that this will be a challenging programme, but you’re not alone – as well as your line manager, you’ll be assigned a buddy (who has also been through the Graduate Programme) to support you every step of the way. You’ll have clear objectives and an understanding of the skills you’ll develop in each placement, as well as regular reviews, to ensure you’re on track and getting what you need.
You’ll be empowered at every opportunity to reach your full potential and by the end of the programme, the aim is for you to be ready to step up to the next level in the career pathway from Graduate Associate to an Associate or Senior Associate.
