The decisions at gate two are made by further examining the solutions in more detail, with focus on ensuring that funding for continued investigation and development of solutions is aligned to water resources planning. We welcome representations from stakeholders regarding these elements.
Decisions about whether or not a solution goes ahead will be made through water resources planning and subsequently applications for local planning and environmental consents, not the through RAPID itself. Stakeholders with representations about specific schemes should engage with future consultations or contact the solution owners directly.
You can view all the solution schematics in one document here.

Letters to solution owners
Anglian to Affinity Transfer – solution scope change request
A letter was received in November 2022 from the solutions owners with a supporting note which sets out their proposed strategy for managing changes to the solution scope and partnering beyond gate two. They are recommending that the full scope of the Anglian to Affinity transfer does not progress to gate three. The supporting note sets out the background to these changes, the options considered and the recommended option to progress the required scope to gate three.
West Country North sources and transfers and Poole effluent recycling sources and transfers – solution option changes
An interim update from Wessex Water, in associated with solution partners South West Water, Bristol Water and Southern Water, was received proposing a change to West Country North source and transfers and Poole effluent recycling sources and transfers solution options. The change results in the solutions going forward no longer considering inter-regional needs and instead addressing intra-regional needs only.
